M&S Food opens at Straiton Retail Park
Following the planning consent in June this year, M&S Food has opened the doors to its new 15,000 sq ft store at Straiton Retail Park, this morning, 2 nd December, in time for the festive season.
The new store has relocated from the lower level of the park to a unit previously occupied by Fabb Sofas. A firm favourite amongst shoppers, the new store will have everything families need for their weekly shop, with hundreds of ‘Remarksable Value’ items, from vitamin D-rich bread loaves, to RSPCA Assured Milk and M&S Select Farms fruit and veg – all at an everyday low price with the quality shoppers expect from M&S. Customers will also be able to enjoy the reserve and collect service for their Christmas Food shopping, and order everything needed for a truly delicious Christmas meal with all the trimmings.
Thomas Tierney, Store Manager at M&S Straiton, said: “We’re delighted to open our new store in Straiton. The last few weeks have been spent putting the finishing touches in store and making sure all our measures are in place to support customers, so they can shop with confidence. It’s brilliant to now be open in time for the festive season – chatting with customers today it’s fantastic to see them get excited about our new Christmas products, as well as shop for all the essentials. Our new store also offers Click & Collect, which means customers can shop for the full Clothing & Home collections via M&S.com.
“I’d like to say a big thank you to the team, who have been amazing getting the store ready. We’re all so excited show the community all that Scotland’s largest Food store has to offer.”
Leah Taylor, Development Manager at Peel L&P Retail Parks said: “Opening ahead of schedule and in these uncertain times, it is fantastic to see M&S thriving at Straiton Retail Park. Works are currently continuing on The Terrace which we expect to complete in the coming days.”
‘The Terrace’ development, built by Muir Construction, one of Scotland’s largest privately-owned contracting companies, is an eye-catching £10 million development set to house up to 11 retail
operators, with Greggs, Starbucks, Card Factory, The Works, Trespass and Archers Sleepcentre already committed to the site.
Defying the negative headlines surrounding retail, Peel L&P Retail Parks continue to attract national stores across a number of its parks across the UK, attracting an annual footfall figure of more than 7 million visitors at the Straiton site alone. The parks are aided by dedicated investment to help improve the facilities for tenants and customers. Since the outbreak of Covid-19 in the UK, the Peel L&P Retail Parks team have been working in partnership with stores to create a safe shopping environment for the public.
